Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, pioneered by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, is the most widely researched and replicated stress reduction program in the world. Numerous clinical studies have confirmed that MBSR is effective for relieving symptoms in many areas including: stress and anxiety, chronic pain, migraines, hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders, depression, chronic fatigue, sleep disorders, and PTSD.
The 8-week program incorporates mindfulness sitting and walking meditation, mindful yoga, and a series of exercises to help you learn how to become better at dealing with stress in everyday life. Free, hour long, orientation sessions are offered throughout the year. Click here for details.
MBSR Northeast also holds classes and offers coaching in mindful communication and conflict resolution for couples, organizations, and individuals, as well as day-long meditation retreats, links to resources, and written articles about everyday experiences. You can find more information here.
